About On the Mat Studio

At On the Mat Studio, we are dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fitness enthusiasts. We offer small group classes in Rocket Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Pilates, and Fitness, designed to accommodate various levels and objectives. This ensures that everyone can find a class that suits their individual needs and goals.

In addition to our group classes, we provide private coaching sessions with the Pilates Reformer for those seeking a more personalized experience.

Our Approach

Before opening this studio, I gained valuable experience working in larger fitness clubs, primarily at Aspria in the Avenue Louise area and various Pilates studios in St. Gilles. Many of these clubs offered classes at prices that were only accessible to a select few, which inspired me to create something different.

At On the Mat Studio, our focus is on both accessibility and quality. By keeping our class sizes small—limited to 8 or 9 participants—we enhance the learning and training experience. This unique approach allows us to remember each student and provide personalized corrections tailored to their needs.

We believe that knowledge and attention to detail define quality. In our intimate setting, we strive to know our students by name, recognizing their strengths and areas for improvement. If we notice something that doesn’t seem quite right, we can recommend a class that better suits individual needs.

We also cherish the sense of community that develops here, where participants quickly get to know one another and support each other’s progress.

We’re excited to support you on your fitness journey and look forward to welcoming you to our studio!

Hi, I'm Orsi

I’m Orsi, a Yoga Instructor, Pilates Instructor, and Fitness Trainer, as well as a content creator of online programs in these disciplines. I am also a proud mother of a wonderful little boy. Since childhood, I have always been passionate about movement, particularly through horse riding and dancing. My professional journey as an instructor began around 2009.

My Studies

Over the years, I have completed an extensive number of certification courses that have allowed me to develop a strong, versatile profile across different disciplines:

Yoga Teacher: I completed a 200-hour Teacher Training Course (TTC) with Mukesh Kothari at Bindusar Yoga in Budapest, Hungary (Yoga Alliance US), followed by a 300-hour TTC at Sampoorna Yoga in Goa, India (Yoga Alliance UK). I have participated in numerous educational training sessions, including a 130-hour Aerial Yoga Teacher Training Course and Rocket Yoga Teacher Training (Yoga Alliance US). I have completed Rocket Yoga teacher training four times under the guidance of different instructors, including David Kyle, David Cabezas Sanchez, and Amanda (Mana Yoga). I strive to participate in Rocket Yoga training annually, as it plays a significant role in my life, along with handstands and conditioning, which form the foundation of my daily practice.

Stott Pilates Instructor: I have achieved various Stott certifications, including Mat-work and Reformer at Brussels Pilates in Brussels, Belgium; Cadillac and Chair at Pilates Plus in Budapest, Hungary; and Barrels at John Garey in Los Angeles, USA.

bodyART® Instructor: I have certified in several topics within bodyART®, including Deep Work, Basic, Dynamics, and Stretch, at the bodyART Hungary School with Rita Lencses and Balazs Borsodi.

Personal Trainer: I hold certifications from both ISSA and NASM.

De Gasquet Instructor: I have acquired knowledge to assist individuals with diastasis recti (DR) and post-natal rehabilitation.

My Passion

As a yoga teacher, I like to give attention to my students' needs and goals. I am passionate about my practice and I’m glad to encourage those in their journey who would like to lift the level of their own self-practice. My multi-disciplinary movement background helps me understand and explain how movement functions. I like to break down movements and make people understand from where they come and how they need to go over their level whether it is a handstand, backbend, or a simpler movement. I enjoy working with practitioners of different ages and different levels. I have experience working with athletes and with those who have therapeutic, rehabilitation needs too. Besides the physical practice, I enjoy reading about Yoga history and philosophy and meditating.

My Objective

Regardless of my certifications, I ensure that my knowledge is always updated so that I can work with a specific kind of clientele profile: people with injuries, pregnant women, athletes, or people with a sedentary life. My objective is to help people to choose the exercises and routines adequately by respecting the person's needs.

My work

Since 2009 I have been working in different gyms across Brussels, specially at the Aspria Clubs. I work both as a Collective Class Teacher and Private Instructor. Right now, I am working at my own studio, On the Mat Studio, located in the Merode neighborhood in Brussels.

Today, I offer mainly Collective Classes in Vinyasa Yoga, Rocket Yoga, and Pilates. As for my Private Sessions I usually select a combination of routines to ensure that the training is tailored specific to each person. I can work from a classical Pilates repertoire, which moves more towards a therapeutic direction; up to a more Fitness Minded session using TRX and small weights for toning the body.
